After the extreme heat of yesterday today started off much cooler. As the itinerary had also altered slightly we decided to change it even further and veer off Highway One again and follow the Flinders Highway down around the Eyre Peninsula.
However didn't take long before we started to rue this decision as the weather turned quite nasty and we copped some extreme south westerly winds.
First photo shows us heading into a dust storm.
The photos below don't quite show how bad the wind was but let's just say i actually got quite a bit of use out of the edge of the tyres just trying to stay on the road.
After just over 300km we decided to call it quits for the day and found some accommodation in a cabin in a caravan park in Tumby Bay. Being Good Friday the two pubs in town weren't open so had to survive on 2 beers i had kept from the previous night. Most sober i have been on a Good Friday for many years!!
Couldn't even get internet access.
Judging by the news reports it was a good decision to stop riding though as wind gusts of up to 94km/h were recorded in parts of the peninsula.
I love the photo's, thanks for sharing
