Day 17 - Karratha to Broome - 946km

Today we left early as we had a long ride today to get to Broome. Stopped just up the road to top up with fuel and noticed the weather forecast on the outside of the shop...would turn out to be quite true as the temperature climbed to 38 degrees during the afternoon which made for very  unpleasant riding conditions.

Stopped in at Port Hedland for a quick look and morning tea then carried on....it was a 600km run from there to Broome with only two roadhouses in between and they were both in the first half of the run. So after the the second one we had 300km without any civilisation.

Not too sure if i have mentioned before that there are a lot of flat straight boring roads out here...

Parood Roadhouse was the last stop before the big run to Broome.

While we were stopped this old car arrived. It is a American built 1927 Franklin air-cooled machine currently on a trip around Australia anticlockwise. Bit like us just a bit slower...they left Sydney last August!!! They are raising awareness and funds for Careflight.

Pardoo Roadhouse also had lots of peacocks running around

If this looks like the "middle of nowhere" then that's cause it is...long way from nothing and flat for miles....

Finally made it to Cable  Beach (Broome) very hot and bothered and where the only accommodation option we found was a resort villa at $250 a night, but we were beyond caring at this point, just wanted a beer and to cool down....least it is a bit fancier than the donga in Karratha and it was $220!!.
Although the room did come with a complimentary houseguest!!

We then ventured down to the beach front to watched the sunset and the camels...bit too late for a camel ride so just took pictures of everybody else on them however the sunset was quite stunning to watch. Had a beer at the Sunset Bar and Grill before returning to the resort for much cheaper bottlo beers.
