Day 9 - Wing Around The Rock - Uluru to Alice Springs - 463km

So today we left Ayers Rock Resort and headed for Alice Springs. Kings Canyon will have to wait for our next trip out this way. Not really a lot to tell about the day so only a couple of photos to show really.

This memorial is at Stuarts Well, south of Alice Springs, and was built in memory of the competitors and officials who died in Australia's one and only Cannonball Run back in the early 90's. A couple of Japanese competitors lost control of their Ferrari on the bend and took out the marshals checkpoint. I think this was the catalyst for the introduction of the 130km speed limit in the Territory, doing away with the unlimited speeds  previously allowed.

Couple of shots of Bo Jangles Saloon bar and restaurant. Was a comfy spot to watch the Sandown 500 V8 Supercars.

The Todd River..where have all the fish (and the water) gone?

This is apparently the first hospital in central Australia, built by the Rev John Flynn, founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
